Homemade granola
When I start my day, there is one thing - besides yoga - that I look forward to every morning: my homemade muesli. It looks like a classic muesli, but it's much more than that. Each spoonful is a feast for the senses, a mix of warm oatmeal, a super crunchy topping mix and seasonal fruits, finished with a pinch of cinnamon. But the icing on the cake lies in the unique blend that makes it so special.
Here are the ingredients for this mix that make my muesli a nutrient-rich super start into the day:
Cashews
Walnuts
Almonds
Sunflower seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Cacao nibs
Linseed
Chia seeds
Coconut flakes
Wheat germ
Sesame
I buy these ingredients in bulk and mix them together in one large container to save time in the morning and not have to open 12 different packages. This not only has a practical advantage, but also gives me the freedom to put together an individual portion depending on my mood.
As a base, I use organic oat flakes and fill the bowl with hot water to create a kind of porridge that warms me from the inside. This also creates natural oat milk. Alternatively, you can also use the type of milk and temperature of your choice.
Every morning when I prepare my bowl of muesli, I look forward to this delicious mixture, which tastes different every time due to the different composition. The combination of creamy porridge, crunchy nuts and seeds, sweet fruits and the hint of cinnamon is simply delicious. What makes my breakfast special, however, is the health aspect. In the morning, my body is filled with an abundance of important vitamins and nutrients. Cashews, walnuts and almonds provide healthy fats, while sunflower and pumpkin seeds contain valuable minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium. The cacao nibs add a touch of chocolate indulgence and vitamin E, while flaxseeds and chia seeds provide fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. The coconut flakes and wheat germ round off the mixture with other vitamins and minerals. Thanks to sesame there is small portion of calcium and iron. If you're looking for a delicious and nutritious way to start the day, try my granola recipe. Not only is it delicious, but it's also good for your body and soul. So let the day start full of energy.
